Great Greeks
Objectives: I can evaluate the social, political, economic, and cultural contributions of key figures in Europe's past such as: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar, Constantine the Great, Alexander the Great
Ancient Greeks were known for their thinkers, teachers, and warriors. We learned many things from the Ancient Greeks, but perhaps the most important was the value of ideas.
Wisdom can be defined as the knowledge of what is right and true. The ancient Greeks discussed, debated, and studied wisdom. This is called philosophy. The word philosophy comes from a Greek term meaning "the love of wisdom."
Ancient Greek warrior like Alexander the Great created the largest empire the world has ever seen, stretching from Greece, to Egypt, and throughout the Middle East. Although known for his amazing military career, Alexander was considered ‘great’ for another reason. Where ever he conquered he founded cities fashioned after Greek cities.
